Dvořák’s Rusalka is a haunting opera about a water nymph who sacrifices everything to become human and pursue love, only to face heartbreaking consequences. This dramatic retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale The Little Mermaid is presented by the New Jersey Opera Theater under the direction of Rahway’s own, Joseph Mayon.
