Considered a classic of the genre, this beloved opera has inspired scenes in films such as Pretty Woman and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Although written in 1853, its themes of the hypocrisy of upper-class society, and the impossibility of escaping one’s social class and fate, all the while searching for true love, still resonate with audiences today.
