Education in Rahway

Rahway High School was recently rated one of the top ten most improved public school systems in the State by New Jersey Monthly magazine, and with good reason.

Rahway is now becoming recognized regionally for its exemplary focus and investment in performing arts education. Students have the opportunity to make use of dedicated facilities for marching band, string instruments, and choral practice. Climatecontrolled storage rooms have been built for instruments, costumes and uniforms. Individual classrooms are equipped for instruction in dance choreography, drama, and composing music. There are also private rehearsal rooms, and rooms for sewing/costuming, as well as stage design and construction. The gem of the new performing arts wing is an 800seat theater, with an advanced lighting and sound system, concessions and ticket office.

Major improvements to the science departments of the middle and high schools have recently been completed as well. Classrooms feature stateoftheart laboratories and new equipment, smart boards, and prep rooms. Rahway has its own robotics team that competes in regional and state events. Students have gone on to graduate from top colleges and universities for engineering and medicine. Rahway High School boasts five recent graduates who are now practicing medical doctors in some of the finest hospitals in the country.

Rahway has long been known for its excellent athletics program. It’s hard to think of a similar-sized community that has produced as many proathletes. Rahway High School graduates include: Antonio Garay, Football; Earl Clark, Cincinatti Royals; Andre Neblett, Carolina Panthers; Darion Caldwell, Mixed Martial Arts, College Nat’l Champ Wrestler; Ike Igbinosun, Football; Manny Yarbrough, Sumo Wrestler; and Lisette Brandao, Portuguese National Soccer Team, and her sister Kim Brandao, Portuguese National Soccer Team and Western NY Flash, among others.
